Things to do in Costa Brava, places to see...
This unspoilt area of the Costa Brava stretching from Pals in the north
to Pallafrugell in the south is the most charming part of the Costa
Brava. If you want a quiet holiday in an environment of calm relaxed and
tranquil scenery, you have come to the right place. You won't find an English
Pub for miles and miles. You won't be able to buy a 'kiss me quick' hat or
feast on egg and chips. In fact if that is what you want in your Spanish
holiday then you really are coming to the wrong place.
|
|
|
|
On the other hand, if you want a travellers holiday, where you delight in the
difference of another culture, want to see and feel how the Catalan people
live both now and in the past, then this is the place for you.

On the 'Local Area' information page you will have seen brief descriptions of
the local villages and beaches in the area around Begur Each village has
its' own unique charm and character, some more lively than others. For those of
us more active than our beach baby friends there are a multitude of things to
see and do. Here are just a few of our own personal favourites.

Scuba Diving enthusiasts or beginners are well catered for at a number of
our local beaches. There are diving centres and schools in both Fornells/Aigua
Blava and Tamariu Classes are small and there is no language
barrier as most instructors are proficient in more than one language. For the
more experienced divers the Medes Islands a marine nature reserve off
the coast is a must.
|
|
The Medes Islands, visible to the north of Begur are a World Wildlife
marine reserve and are amongst the most important features of the Costa Bravan
coastal heritage area. Glass bottomed boats make daily trips from some of the
larger harbour further north. On the local beaches water sports are rather low
key, consisting mainly of kayaks, canoes and the odd pedalo for hire by the
hour. Jet ski, speedboats and faster craft are generally excluded from the
beach areas. However, it is possible to hire larger boats by the day or weekly.
There are specialist hire companies who supply both craft and crew if
necessary. If you wish to bring your own boat, temporary moorings can be
arranged and most beaches in the area have boat slips.

If Golf is your game, then you may have found a winter haven, not to
mention one for the spring, and the autumn. Admittedly, you really do have to
get up early, in the center of summer to avoid the mid day, sun but with the
following courses within easy reach it really is no hardship! Courses are well
designed and challenging and in the low season amazingly quiet.
